Bangalore: French President Nicholas Sarkozy on Saturday said that India deserves a permanent seat at UNSC in his address to scientists at the ISRO in Bangalore.
Backing India for a permanent UNSC seat, Sarkozy said India, along with Brazil, Germany, Japan, Africa and Arab world should be in the UN Security Council.
The French President said that terrorism emanating from Pakistan and Afghanistan is a major source of instability in the world.
Sarkozy said France will provide all help for development of India’s nuclear programme.
He arrived in Bangalore earlier for the first leg of his four-day visit as he seeks to strengthen bilateral ties in key areas of space and civil nuclear cooperation.
Sarkozy is accompanied by his singer-model wife Carla Bruni and a high-level delegation, including several key ministers of his cabinet and senior officials.
The visiting French leader President will visit Agra, Delhi and Mumbai during his India visit.
A 50-member business delegation and a 100-member team of journalists from France have already arrived in India for the President’s visit.
