New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday demanded the recall of Karnataka Governor HR Bhardwaj. Senior BJP leaders led by LK Advani met President Pratibha Patil in New Delhi and told her that Bhardwaj should be recalled for sanctioning the prosecution of Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa.
“We complained to the President against the conduct of Karnataka Governor Hansraj Bhardwaj. We asked her to recall the governor. We also told the President that if needed the President could even seek legal opinion to recall Governor Bhardwaj,” Advani said after meeting the President.
The BJP delegation also included leaders of the Opposition in both the houses of Parliament, Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley, and all the BJP MPs from Karnataka.
However, Yeddyurappa said in Bangalore that the legal battle is already on in the land scam case in which Bhardwaj has sanctioned the Chief Minister’s prosecution.
“I will definitely share the dias with the Governor on Republic Day. Today our leaders met President. Let us see what the government does. Legal battle is already on,” said Yeddyurappa.
Meanwhile, three more complaints were filed against Yeddyurappa and others in connection with alleged land scam cases on Sunday.
The complaints filed by Advocate Sirajin Basha relate to the alleged illegal transfer of land, abuse of power, criminal conspiracy, cheating and securing of illegal gain for the kith and kin of the Chief Minister and those associated with him.
The Chief Minister has been named as common accused in all the three complaints filed in the 23rd Additional City and Civil Sessions court and the two complaints filed.
The Chief Minister’s son, in-laws, and companies that allegedly benefitted from the land deals were named as accused in the complaints.
