Bangalore: Former Karnataka Information Commissioner H N Krishna was today arrested in connection with charges of irregularities and malpractice in the selection of gazetted probationers during his tenure as Chairman of the state Public Service Commission during 1998-2004.
Krishna, who quit as Information Commissioner on September 19 after an FIR was filed against him, was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) police, DIG (CID) B V Padmanayan told PTI here.
A CID inquiry had found alleged discrimination, fabrication of documents, fraud and criminal intimidation among others in various stages of selection process of gazetted probationers (Group A and B posts) during 1998, 1999 and 2004.
The state high court had rejected Krishna’s anticipatory bail plea on September 19 noting that a thorough investigation was needed to probe the role of candidates, officials and non-officials in connection with the case.
Krishna also allegedly forced a candidate appearing for personality test to put in his signature in attendance sheet and another document and fabricated it later to disqualify him.
