New Delhi(IANS): Petrol, diesel, cooking gas and kerosene prices across the country were revised Wednesday after state-run oil marketing companies adjusted the surcharge paid towards state levies such as entry tax on crude and purchase tax.

Petrol price was increased in seven states from 72 paise to Rs.2.13 per litre. Diesel price in seven states was raised from 72 paise to Rs.1.95 per litre.

Kerosene price was hiked by 32-80 paise per litre in eight states. Domestic LPG cylinder price was increased from Rs.8.72 to Rs.19.43 per cylinder in six states.

The revision by the OMCs also resulted in cut in the price of diesel in 11 states by 32-62 paise per litre.

Similarly, petrol price was decreased in 11 states by 52 paise to Rs.1.06 per litre. Kerosene price was reduced by 6 paise to 16 paise per litre in nine states.

Cooking gas cylinder price was decreased by Rs.3.86 to Rs.10.18 per cylinder in 12 states.

According to Indian Oil, the changes followed the revision of the structure of “state specific cost (SSC)” to cover the irrecoverable taxes such as entry tax on crude, surcharge on sales tax and central sales tax/purchase tax levied by the states on the OMCs.
