Nabarangpur (Orissa): A headmaster and two employees of a residential government school were arrested on the charge of raping four students in Orissa’s Nabarangpur district on Wednesday, official sources said.

The arrest followed a complaint lodged by a lady teacher of the school, run by the Tribal Welfare Department at Bada Ambada village, with the district collector Roopa Mishra on Wednesday.

Mishra told reporters that after a preliminary investigation, an FIR was registered with the Kosagumuda police station against headmaster Pradipta Sahu, assistant teacher Iswar Bhotra and cook Padman Bhotra and they were arrested.

Departmental action had also been initiated against them. They were placed under suspension and show cause notice was issued to the welfare extension officer of Kosagumuda block, she said.

She said the district superintendent of police had been asked to personally monitor the police investigation, while the four girls, all higher-secondary students, were sent to the district headquarters hospital for medical examination.
