I have done no wrong, won’t quit Congress: Jagan

New Delhi: Congress MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy is in Delhi to meet the Congress leadership after the party high command asked him to stop his ‘Odarpu Yatra’ in Andhra Pradesh.

Speaking to CNN-IBN Jagan said that he won’t leave the Congress.

“There is no question of me leaving the Congress. I will remain in the party. I will request the party to allow me to continue the yatra (tour). I don’t think that any disciplinary action will be taken against me. I have not done anything wrong,” said Jagan.

“If I wanted to leave the Congress, I would have left soon after my father died when I had the sympathy of 135 MLAs. The question of me leaving the Congress does not arise,” said the Congress MP.

“In my tour to Khammam if you see in all the meetings have I ever spoken politics? This is personal. I request the media and others not to make this a stand off between me and the party. I respect madam (Congress President Sonia Gandhi),” he added.

Jagan had defied the party high command’s diktat to refrain from his tour to Telangana areas apparently to meet and console the families of those who allegedly committed suicide or died of shock over the death of his father YS Rajasekhara Reddy.

Fearing a cross-vote from Jagan’s loyalists in the Rajya Sabha elections, Sonia Gandhi requested Praja Rajyam chief Chiranjeevi to withdraw from the race for elections in Andhra.

Violence took place at Mahabobabad railway station on May 28 ahead of Jagan’s arrival, as Telangana supporters, who were opposing his visit, threw stones and clashed with police.
