IOC fire caused losses worth about Rs 341.23 cr: govt

Jaipur: The devastating fire at the IOC fuel depot on the outskirts of the city last year caused losses to the tune of Rs 341.23 crore to its neighbouring industries, institutions, commercial and residential establishments, the government told the State Assembly today.

In its reply to a question by BJP MLA G S Tiwari, the state’s Disaster Management and Relief Department said 907 industries and institutions besides 219 residential and commerical establishments adjacent to the IOC fuel depot were affected by the 13-day long fire that ravaged 12 tanks and claimed as many lives.

As per the Jaipur Collector’s survey, the loss and claims caused by the fire to the neighbouring establishments were worth an estimated Rs 341.23 crore, the reply said.
