‘Jaya creating wedge between Cong-DMK over 2G’

Chennai: Chief Minister and DMK president M Karunanidhi today said he was never opposed to a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to go into the 2G spectrum issue but had only said the CAG reports were, as per practice, looked into by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

The PAC was now being headed by senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi and if a JPC was appointed it will be headed by a ruling party member, he said in a statement here, adding, “I had only asked whether the opposition had no faith in Joshi”.

But AIADMK chief Jayalalitha had misinterpreted the remarks with the aim of creating a wedge between the DMK and the Congress, constitutents of the UPA, he alleged.

“Her efforts will not suceed as we have full confidence in Congress and that party has full confidence on us,” he said.
