Man chops off tongue fearing arrest

A man chopped off his tongue in Cuttack town of Orissa after his landlord filed a police complaint accusing him of stealing valuables.

Raju Mohanty chopped his tongue on Saturday night, Feb 6, fearing police action against him in the theft case in the landlord’s house.

According to a police officer, “The house owner filed a complaint a few days ago reporting missing valuables from his house.”

The police further said, “Upon knowing that the police were coming to arrest him, Raju shut himself inside his house and chopped his tongue with a sharp kitchen knife.”

“Raju was rushed to the SCB Medical College and is undergoing treatment there,” the officer added.
