My job done if Indo-Pak ties normalise: Manmohan

On board PM’s Special Aircraft(IANS): Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Saturday said his job would be ”well done” if he succeeded in improving the relations between India and Pakistan.

Manmohan Singh, who was returning home after his five-day trip abroad, was asked by accompanying journalists what would be the five things he would like to achieve in the relations with Pakistan.

“Five would be too much,” Manmohan Singh quipped, a smile on his face.

“If I can succeed in normalising relations between India and Pakistan, as they should prevail between two normal states, I will consider my job well done,” he said.

Last month, Manmohan Singh had invited his Pakistani counterpart Yousuf Raza Gilani to watch the India-Pakistan cricket World Cup semi-final at Mohali, giving a diplomatic boost to normalising the ties between the two countries.

New Delhi had suspended composite dialogue with Islamabad after the 26/11 Mumbai attack that left 166 people dead. India says militants from Pakistan orchestrated the mayhem and massacre in Mumbai.
