New Delhi: Lokayukta Justice Santosh Hegde, who had earlier urged Anna Hazare not to undertake another hunger strike in case of delay in the implementation of the Jan Lokpal bill, retracted his stand on Sunday.
“About his fast from August 16, it was only a suggestion from me not to do so. I stand by him in all his endeavours against corruption,” Justice Hegde said. “I have no differences of opinion with Annaji,” he added.
To further emphasise that the civil society activists stayed united, Hegde, who had earlier decided to skip the draft Lokpal Bill panel meeting in New Delhi on June 21, has now decided to attend to now.
Justice Hegde had on Saturday said he was “disappointed and disillusioned” with the outcome of the last meeting where none of the civil society’s demands were accepted by the Union government. He had said he had personal commitments in Mangalore and would not attend the June 21 meeting.
