One arrested for ‘forceful’ religious conversion

Bangalore: A 26-year-old man from Kerala was arrested here today for allegedly indulging in forceful religious conversion, police said.

Following a complaint by a Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) activist, Ulsoor Sub-Division Police arrested Johnson and seized pamphlets and religious literature with him, they said.

The accused had been staying with his wife in a room in a Christian educational institution premises in Udayanagar and allegedly forcing local residents to convert to Christianity, they said.

He had also offered Rs 25,000 for conversion and an additional Rs 25,000 for recommending other persons, police said.
