Railway officer held for taking money promising jobs

Durgapur (West Bengal): The Assistant Station Manager (ASM) of Sahebganj railway station in Jharkhand has been arrested on charges of taking money from a man promising railway jobs to two of his brothers.

Officer-in-Charge of Durgapur NTS police station, Dibyendu Das said he had led a force to Sahebganj and arrested Ramkrishna Mandal (52) and brought him here late last night.

The arrest followed the direction of Durgapur Sub-divisional Judicial Magistrate, Sandip Kumar Manna after a person, Tapan Chakrabarty, filed a case on January 29 last alleging that Mandal had taken Rs seven lakh from him promising railway jobs to two of his brothers.

Chakrabarty, a temporary Group D staff of the local ESI hospital, claimed in his petition that he had paid the money in three installments since late 2008.
