Shoaib admits marriage to Ayesha, signs divorce papers

Hyderabad: The Siddiqui family claimed that the Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik admitted marrying Ayesha Siddiqui.

According to sources, divorce papers were signed on Wednesday morning. The compromise was brokered between Siddiquis and Maliks on Tuesday night.

Ayesha Siddiqui, who claims to be the wife of Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik, was questioned by Hyderabad police, two days after she filed cheating and dowry harassment cases against him.

The police’s Central Crime Station (CCS) unit, probing into the allegations against Shoaib, quizzed the Hyderabadi girl for one and half hours, sources said.

The police questioned her on the details of her meeting with Shoaib in Hyderabad after the ‘Nikahnama’.

The officials also took details of the souvenirs purportedly given by Shoaib to Ayesha, they said.

Ayesha’s family has slapped charges of cheating, harassment and criminal intimidation against Shoaib.

The Pakistani cricketer has claimed that his Nikahnama was invalid since the photographs of the girl sent to him and that of Ayesha were of two different persons.

Police have taken away Shoaib’s passport to verify entries of his visits to India as claimed by Ayesha.

The CCS is in the process of obtaining email communications between Shoaib and Siddiqui.

It will also seek the help of cyber forensic experts to ascertain if there is any communication between the two and of what nature.

Police have booked the Pakistani cricketer under IPC Sections 506 (criminal intimidation), 420 (cheating) and 498(A) (dowry harassment).
