Tiruchirappalli: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa today said her top priority is to ensure that the final award of the Cauvery water disputes tribunal is gazetted.
“My first step is to ensure that final award of Cauvery tribunal is gazetted, finding an early solution to the issue,” she told a delegation of Tamil Nadu Cauvery Delta Farmers’ Welfare Association which met her in the city this evening.
TN and Karnataka are locked in a battle over the decades-long dispute on sharing of Cauvery waters. The tribunal had in 2007 given its final award, allocating 419 tmcft water to TN and 270 tmcft to Karnataka.
However, Jayalalithaa had been crying hoarse against the previous DMK government, accusing it of failing to get the award notified in the central gazette.
