If Sania plays for India, we won’t take back gifted land: Andhra Govt

Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government said it will not take back any gifts or land given to tennis star Sania Mirza, who is getting married to Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik on April 15.

Scotching rumours that the state government will take away the residential plot given to Sania for her achievements, Komatireddy Venkata Reddy, state Minister for Sports and IT, said there is no question of taking back any gift given to her.

“The state government is proud to have a player of international stature from Hyderabad. We will continue to give patronage and support to her as long as she plays for the country,” Reddy said.

Sania has decided to marry former Pakistan cricket captain Malik, who divorced a Hyderabadi girl Ayesha Siddiqui.
